Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim
58 words
The method of claim 1, including the steps of metering the first fluid formed of polyhydroxy and the second fluid formed of polyisocyanate from the first and second receptacle means respectively as they are deposited in a simultaneously and continuous adhering relation onto the elongated surfaces of the respective first and second axially elongated rolls during their rotation.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
76 words
The method claimed in claim 2, including the steps of feeding a first fluid, formed polyhydroxy, into a first receptacle means and depositing the same in film form in adhering relation onto a first axially elongated roll in operation, and feeding a second fluid, formed polyisocyanate, into a second receptacle means, separated apart from the first receptacle means, and depositing the same in film form in adhering relation onto a second axially elongated roll in operation.
Claim 3
Independent Claim
249 words
The method of mixing at least two different fluids formed from reactant materials, in intimately admixed relation, to make a polyurethane foam for the manufacture of products having a cellular structure, comprising the steps of feeding a first fluid, formed of polyhydroxy, into a first receptacle means which is provided with a discharge opening, and metering out the fluid therefrom and depositing the same in film form in adhering relation onto the peripheral surface of a first axially elongated roll in operation, and feeding a second fluid, formed of polyisocyanate, into a second receptacle means having a discharge opening and spaced apart from the aforesaid first receptacle means, metering out the second fluid from the discharge opening of the second receptacle means and depositing the same in film form in adhering relation onto the peripheral surface of a second axially elongated roll which is in converging inverted mutual nip sealing relation with said first axially elongated roll and rotated therewith, whereby in operation the first and second fluids are carried by the peripheral surfaces of their respective axially elongated rolls in opposite directions to one another but in directions towards one another at the underside of the nip, where they are joined together at the nip, and stripped by the nip from their respective peripheral surfaces and intermixed to form a frothable mixture while being expressed downwardly from the nip onto a moving casting surface, to provide substantially continuous coating of said frothable mixture on the moving casting surface.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
47 words
The method of claim 4, including the steps of having the discharge openings, leading from the first and second receptacle means, arranged in mutual metering relation with the peripheral surfaces of their respective first and second axially elongated rolls to control the disposition of the fluids thereon.
Claim 5
Independent Claim
283 words
The method of mixing at least two different fluids, formed from reactant materials in intimately admixed relation, to make a polyurethane foam for the manufacture of products having a cellular structure, comprising the steps of feeding a first fluid formed of polyhydroxy into a first receptacle means having a discharge openinG, and feeding the second fluid formed of polyisocyanate into a second receptacle means having a discharge opening, removing the first and second fluids from the first and second receptacle means respectively in metered film form and depositing the first fluid in adhering relation onto the surface of a first axially elongated film-carrying roll, and depositing the second fluid in adhering relation onto the surface of a second axially elongated film-carrying roll which is in constant tight abutment engaging contact with the first axially elongated roll, and in operation outwardly contra-rotating in opposite directions from each other while maintaining a converging inverted mutual nip sealing relation along the tight abutment engaging contact between the axially elongated rolls, whereby in operation the films of the first and second fluids are carried outwardly by the peripheral surfaces of the first and second axially elongated rolls and then inwardly around the undersides of the elongated rolls on a collision course towards one another and, upon reaching the tight abutment engaging contact between the elongated rolls, are rejected at the nip and stripped by the nip from the peripheral surfaces of the rolls and deflected therefrom in a downward direction, thereby causing the intermixing and blending of the first and second fluids and effecting a chemical reaction that forms a frothable mixture which falls onto a casting surface travelling beneath the nip of the axially elongated rolls.
