Abstract

Abstract In a tape recorder containing a pivotally mounted pressure roller cooperable with a driven main spindle for drawing magnetic tape past magnetic heads for recording, playback and erasing operations, an actuating slider movably supports both the magnetic heads and means for pivoting the pressure roller for effecting their displacement in accordance with the operation to be performed by the tape recorder. A rocker switch and a setting member are each arranged to be set in different positions and to cooperate with the actuating slider for displacing the slider as required.

Claim 2
Dependent Claim 268 words
A tape recorder comprising a housing, magnetic heads disposed within said housing for effecting recording, playing back and erasing on a magnetic tape, a rotatable main spindle positioned within said housing, driving means for rotating said main spindle, a pressure roller, means pivotally supporting said pressure roller for pivoting said pressure roller against said main spindle for drawing magnetic tape between said pressure roller and said main spindle past said magnetic heads, an actuating slider located within said housing and movably positionable therein, said magnetic heads supported on said actuating slider, said means for pivotally supporting said pressure roller being operatively associated with said actuating slider for pivoting said pressure roller in response to the position of said actuating slider, a setting member rotatably supported within said housing and pivotally movable between a plurality of positions and said setting member being in contacting engagement with said actuating slider as it is moved between its different positions, said setting member being arranged to switch electric circuits in the recorder, a rocker switch pivotally supported within said housing and displaceable between a plurality of positions and being in contacting engagement with each of said actuating slider and said setting member in at least one of its positions so that in response to the positions of said setting member and said rocker switch said actuating member is movably positioned whereby said magnetic heads are moved into and out of contact with the magnetic tape and said means for pivotally supporting said pressure roller pivots said pressure roller into and out of position for holding the magnetic tape against said main spindle.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 75 words
A tape recorder, as set forth in claim 1, wherein said means for pivotally supporting said pressure roller comprises a supporting arm pivotally arranged within said housing, spring means for biasing said pressure roller toward said main spindle, and said actuating slider having a bent portion thereon positionable within the path of said supporting arm for effecting pivotal movement of said supporting arm for pivoting said pressure roller out of engagement with said main spindle.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 121 words
A tape recorder, as set forth in claim 1, wherein a pair of freely rotatable spool carrier spindles located in spaced relationship within said housing, a supply spool mounted on one said carrier spindle and a take-up spool mounted on the other said carrier spindle, a first intermediate gear, means for pivotally supporting said first intermediate gear between a first position in contact with said main spindle and the spindle of said take-up spool and a second position spaced from said main spindle, so that in the recording and playback positions of the recorder said supply spool being rotated by the tape and said carrier spindle for said take-up spool being rotatable from said main spindle by said first intermediate gear.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 89 words
A tape recorder, as set forth in claim 3, wherein second intermEdiate gears being selectively positionable between said drive means for said main spindle and said carrier spindles for said supply roll and said take-up roll, whereby in the fast forward speed position and the fast rewind position said first intermediate gear being disengaged from said main spindle and said second intermediate gears being connected to said carrier spindle of said take-up roll for fast forward speed and to said carrier spindle of said supply roll for fast rewind.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 68 words
A tape recorder, as set forth in claim 3, wherein said drive means for said main spindle comprises a driving wheel being secured to said main spindle for rotation therewith, a pinion freely rotatably mounted on said main spindle, spring means disposed between said pinion and said driving wheel and forming a slip-clutch, said first intermediate gear in its first position being disposed in contact with said pinion.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 109 words
A tape recorder, as set forth in claim 4, a pivotally mounted control lever disposed within said housing and arranged in engagement with said rocker switch in its various positions, said second gears operatively connected to said control lever for displacement of said second intermediate gears relative to said spindles of said supply roll and said take-up roll, said carrier lever pivotally supporting said first intermediate gear having a bent portion arranged to contact said control lever, a spring member biasing the bent-up portion of said carrier lever into contact with said control lever, said carrier lever having protruding part positioned in the pivotal path of said rocker switch.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 146 words
A tape recorder, as set forth in claim 1, wherein said rocker switch comprises a stem portion and a pair of oppositely extending arms secured to and extending from one end of said stem portion, said rocker switch being pivotally mounted within said housing at a point positioned approximately at the juncture of said lever arms, a control cam secured to each of said lever arms at a position spaced outwardly from the point of pivotal support of said rocker switch, and said rocker switch being arranged to rotate in both directions about its point of pivotal securement to said housing so that each of said lever arms is pivotally displaceable toward said actuating slider and said control cam secured to each said lever arm contact and displace said actuating slider for displacing said magnetic heads and said pressure roller from contacting engagement with the tape.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 76 words
A tape recorder, as set forth in claim 1, wherein said setting member having a laterally extending protuberance thereon, said rocker switch having a recess formed therein for receiving and holding said protuberance on said setting member so that when said setting member is pivotally displaced into the recording position said protuberance thereon lockingly engages in the recess in said switch member for preventing the positioning of the recorder for fast forward feed of the tape.
Claim 10
