Abstract
Abstract A process for the synthesis of Alpha -hydroxy esters of carboxylic acids by reacting a carboxylic acid ester with a hydroperoxide in the presence of a metal ion catalyst. The reaction is characterized by mild reaction conditions and good efficiency. The Alpha -hydroxy esters are useful intermediates in the production of acrylates.
