Abstract WATER INSOLUBLE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS WHICH LIBERATE GASEOUS NITROGEN AT HIGH TEMPERATURES AND HAVE AT LEAST ONE N-N SINGLE OR DOUBLE BOND IN EACH MOLECULE ARE ADDED TO LUBRICANTS TO IMPROVE LUBRICITY AND DECREASE CORROSION WHILE REMAINING READILY REMOVABLE FROM THE SURFACES TO WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN APPLIED.
