Abstract
Abstract The disclosure relates to 1-amino-3-(carbamoylphenoxy)-2propanol derivatives, processes for their manufacture, pharmaceutical compositions containing them and a method of using them to produce cardiac Beta -adrenergic blockade in warmblooded animals. Representative of the compounds disclosed is 3(2-chloro-4-n-hexylcarbamoylphenoxy)-1-t-butylamino-2-propanol.

An alkanolamine derivative as claimed in claim 1 which is selected from compounds of the formula given in claim 1 wherein R1 is hydrogen, or ethyl; wherein R2 is hydrogen, n-propyl, isopropyl, n-butyl, s-butyl, t-butyl, 2-hydroxy-1-methylethyl, 2-hydroxy-1,1-dimethylethyl, 1-methyl-2-phenoxyethyl, 1-methyl-3-phenylpropyl, cyclopropyl or cyclopentyl; wherein R3 is hydrogen or ethyl; wherein R4 is methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl, n-butyl, n-pentyl, isopentyl, n-hexyl, n-nonyl, 2-hydroxy-1-methylethyl, 2-hydroxy-1,1-dimethylethyl, 2-methoxyethyl, cyclopropyl, cyclopentyl, allyl, benzyl or 1,1-dimethyl-2-phenylethyl; and wherein R5 is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, propionamido, n-propyl, allyl, nitro, methoxy, or acetyl; and the non-toxic, pharmaceutically-acceptable acid-addition salt thereof.
