Abstract
Abstract A method for removing hydrogen sulfide from gaseous streams by contacting the gaseous stream with an absorbing solution of from 0.005 to 20 percent of a ferric ion complex, from 25.0 to 99.945 percent water, from 0.05 to 10.0 percent of a buffering agent, and from 0 to 74.945 percent of a water-soluble, organic solvent selected from the group consisting of dimethyl formamide and dimethyl sulfoxide.
