Abstract
Abstract Apparatus for winding knitted fabrics onto a beam or roll comprises an endless conveyor feeding to a cylinder which is in peripheral contact with the growing roll of fabric on the beam and also tangential to the endless conveyor. As the diameter of the roll of fabric on the beam increases, the cylinder is pushed away from the beam and this actuates a control to move the conveyor away from the beam so that the conveyor and the cylinder and the periphery of the roll of fabric maintain their same general relation to each other.

Apparatus for winding fabric on a roll, comprising a rotatable roll for receiving fabric thereon, an endless conveyor for feeding fabric in the direction of said roll, a cyliNder that bears against said roll and is tangential to said conveyor and about which said fabric passes from said conveyor to said roll, said cylinder bearing peripherally against the fabric on the roll and having its axis parallel to the axis of said roll, means mounting said cylinder for movement away from said roll under the pressure of the fabric of increasing diameter on said roll, means mounting said conveyor for movement toward and away from said roll, and means responsive to said movement of said cylinder to move said conveyor away from said roll thereby to maintain said cylinder tangential to said conveyor.
