Abstract
Abstract An electrical contact member is punched from a rolled sheet having a thick longitudinal section and an adjacent thin longitudinal section, the thick section forming a terminal portion on which a lead wire can be wrapped while the thin section forms a contact portion. The contact portion is bent to form a loop, and in the event that a pair of opposed contact portions are to be formed, they in turn are bent relative to the terminal portion such that their loops face one another.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim
100 words
A method of manufacturing a contact member comprising forming a metallic plate which is electrically conductive and resilient with a longitudinal thick section and an adjacent longitudinal thin section, cutting said plate transversely to remove successive blanks therefrom in each of which a thick portion is obtained from the thick section and a thin portion from the thin section, and bending said thin portion with respect to said thick portion to form a contact member in which the thin portion forms a contact portion and said thick portion forms a terminal portion on which a lead wire can be wrapped.
Claim 2
Independent Claim
100 words
A method of manufacturing a contact member comprising forming a metallic plate which is electrically conductive and resilient with a longitudinal thick section and an adjacent longitudinal thin section, cutting said plate transversely to remove successive blanks therefrom in each of which a thick portion is obtained from the thick section and a thin portion from the thin section, and bending said thin portion with respect to said thick portion to form a contact member in which the thin portion forms a contact portion and said thick portion forms a terminal portion on which a lead wire can be wrapped.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
29 words
A method as claimed in Claim 1 wherein said plate has a central portion corresponding to one of said sections and adjacent lateral portions corresponding to the other section.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
24 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said thick section has opposite faces both of which are raised relative to said thin section.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
34 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said thick section has opposite faces, one of which is raised relative to said thin section, the other of which is flush with said thick section.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
46 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said thin portion is provided with two legs extending from the thick portion, said thin portion being bent by forming bends on each of the legs and bending the legs such that the bends are in facing relation.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
12 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein said plate is rectangular.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
19 words
A method as claimed in claim 2 wherein said blanks are alternately cut from opposite sides of the plate.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
52 words
A method as claimed in claim 7 wherein the thin portion of each blank is provided with two legs extending from the thick portion, the legs of the blanks cut from one side of the plate being interdigitated with the legs of the blanks cut from the other side of the plate.
