Abstract A method of making proteolytic enzyme preparations having maximum activity at high alkalinity by submerged aerobic cultivation of strains of Bacillus alcalophilus in a nutrient medium containing assimilable carbon and nitrogen sources, while maintaining the pH-value of the nutrient medium between 7.5 and 11.
