Abstract

Abstract AMMONIUM BISULLFATE AND AMMONIA ARE PRODUCED BY THERMAL DECOMPOSITION OF AMMONIUM SULFATE. AN AQUEOUS SLURRY OF AMMONIUM SULFATE IS INTRODUCED INTO A FLOWING STREAM OF HOT COMBUSTION GASES IN A DECOMPOSITION ZONE. THE WATER IS EVAPORATED AND THE AMMONIUM SULFATE IS DECOMPOSED INTO GASEOUS AMMONIA AND MILTEN AMMONIUM BISULFATE, WHICH IS IN THE FORM OF DROPLETS SUSPENDED IN THE FAS STREAM. THE AMMONIUM BISULFATE IS SEPARATED FROM THE GAS STREAM, AND A GAS MIXTURE COMPRISING AMONIA AND HOT COMBUSTION GASES IS WITHDRAWN FROM THE DEXOMPOSITION ZONE.
