Abstract LIGHT WAVES ARE COUPLED INTO AN OPTICAL WAVE GUIDE BY MEANS OF AN OPTICAL GRATING DISPOSED ALONG ONE SURFACE OF THE GUIDE. THE COUPLING IS VARIED BY VARYING THE ANGLE OF INCIDENCE OF THE LIGHT TO BE COUPLED.
