Abstract
Abstract A type head having circular rows of types forming curved columns, is rotated by a transmission about a first axis at the centers of the circular rows of types, and angularly displaced about a second axis for selecting a type of a curved column. The transmission includes a driving gear and a driven gear having curved meshing teeth located at a point of the second axis, so that the gears remain in meshing engagement when the type head with the driven gear is angularly displaced.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
19 words
Type head drive as claimed in claim 1, wherein said drive gear and said driven gear are spur gears.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
26 words
Type head drive as claimed in claim 1 wherein at least the top lands of said teeth of said meshing driving and driven gears are curved.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
27 words
Type head drive as claimed in claim 1 wherein said driving and driven gears are spur gears having teeth with curved top lands and curved bottom lands.
Claim 6

Type head drive as claimed in claim 1 comprising supporting means mounting said mounting means with said type head and said driven gear for tilting movement about a third axis from said position of readiness to a printing position in which a type abuts said printing area, said third axis intersecting said second axis at said point so that tilting movement of said mounTing means about said third axis causes displacement of said driven gear relative to said driving gear while said gears remain in meshing engagement.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
61 words
Type head drive as claimed in claim 1 wherein said mounting means include a frame supporting said type head for rotation about said first axis, and supporting said driven gear for rotation about an axis parallel with said first axis, and a support supporting said frame for angular movement with said type head and said driven gear about said second axis.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
