Abstract

Abstract Incorporation of 30-65 percent of a hydrogenation metal component into a hydrogel which would yield on drying and calcining without the hydrogenation metals a xerogel of a high compacted bulk density (0.8-1.6 g/cc) low pore volume (0.15-0.45 cc/g.) alumina results in a catalyst having a very high hydrogenation and dentrification activity. Up to about 10 percent fluoride is added to provide a cracking component. The hydrogenation metal component is selected from the oxides of nickel, molybdenum, tungsten, cobalt and mixtures thereof.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 30 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the hydrogel is washed to remove extraneous counter ions before contacting with the metal salt solution at a temperature from 60* to 250* C.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 18 words
The method of claim 1 wherein from 1 to 9 percent wt. fluoride is incorporated into the composite.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 38 words
The method of claim 1 wherein after the contact with metal salt solution the hydrogel is shaped and partially dried to remove about 3 to 60% wt. of the water content then washed to remove extraneous counter ions.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 30 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the hydrogenation component is 40-60% wt. of the composite and is selected from the group consisting of the oxides of nickel-tungsten, nickel-molybdenum and cobalt-molybdenum.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 19 words
The method of claim 5 wherein the hydrogenation component is 10-18% wt. nickel oxide and 25-40% wt. tungsten oxide.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 19 words
The method of claim 5 wherein the hydrogenation component is 10-18% wt. nickel oxide and 20-40% wt. molybdenum oxide.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 40 words
The method of claim 1 which includes: a. shaping the catalyst after incorporating the hydrogenation component; b. removing from 3-60 percent weight water from the shaped catalyst; and then, c. washing the catalyst with water to remove extraneous counter ions.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 47 words
A hydroconversion catalyst composition which consisting essentially of from 30 to 65% wt. metal oxides selected from the group consisting of nickel-tungsten, nickel-molybdenum and cobalt-molybdenum and from 1 to 9% wt. fluoride combined with a high density alumina support and prepared by the method of claim 1.
