Abstract AN OIL-IN-WATER EMULSION COATING COMPSITION FOR IMPARTING BRIGHTNESS AND/OR OPACITY TO PUBLICATION PAPER, BOXBOARD AND THE LIKE UTILIZES A COMBINATION BINDER AND EMULSIFIER IN THE WATER PHASE, CONSISTING ESSENTIALLY OF DISPERSED PARTICLES OF BENZL STARCH CONTAINING FROM 2 TO 20% OF EITHER-LINKED BENZYL GROUPS. PERFERABLY, THE STARCH CONTAINS FROM 5 TO 12% BENZYL GROUPS. THE COMPOSITION CAN BE UTILIZED AS A "BUBBLE" COATING.
