Claim 1
Independent Claim
212 words
In a wire printing device for printing on a record member, a print head comprising, a support member, an actuator adjustably secured to said support member having a magnetic core structure with a pair of opposed pole pieces having an air gap therebetween at one end and having an opening in one of the pole pieces adjacent said air gap with portions of said one pole piece disposed on opposite sides of said opening, an armature of magnetic material movably positioned in said opening, a print wire of predetermined length secured at one end to said armature for movement therewith and positioned to move into engagement with said record member, guide means secured to said support member having an opening therethrough to receive and guide said print wire, means for biasing said armature to move said print wire toward said record member, permanent magnet means having an opening therein positioned between said pole pieces at the other end thereof and having connecting means for said pole pieces positioned in said opening, said permanent magnet means producing a magnetic flux in said air gap between said pole pieces, and control means for altering said magnetic flux to permit said biasing means to move said armature and print wire to impact said record member.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
68 words
The invention as defined in claim 1 characterized by an additional cantilever leaf spring secured in spaced relation with said first leaf spring by means of a spacer at one end and having a free end at the other end so positioned relative to said first leaf spring that said first leaf spring engages the free end of said additional cantilever spring after predetermined movement of said armature.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
31 words
The invention as defined in claim 2 characterized by said opening in one pole being a slot through said pole piece and also open at the end of said pole piece.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
75 words
The invention as defined in claim 3 characterized by said actuator magnetic core structure having said one pole piece comprising a lower leg with a pair of feet extending therefrom for supporting said actuator on said support member and an upright extension at one end comprising said slotted pole piece, and an overhanging projection at the other end supporting said permanent magnet means between it and an upper leg which comprises said other pole piece.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
101 words
The invention as defined in claim 1 characterized by the support member being substantially a sector of a circle with a plurality of actuators arranged about the arc thereof and said guide means having a plurality of wire passages extending therethrough in merging relation horizontally from one end to the other and a centrally disposed one traversing from the top of said guide means at said one end to the bottom at said other end in the center, and ones on opposite sides of the center being directed alternately to successively higher positions at the other end in a vertical line.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
34 words
The invention as defined in claim 1 characterized by said opening being within the pole piece so that the armature is surrounded thereby and said armature moves in a straight line in said opening.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
25 words
The invention as defined in claim 1 characterized by said biasing means for the armature being positioned within said upper leg of said core structure.
