Abstract
Abstract Unsaturated acetals of the formula WHERE X, Y and Z are hydrogen, halogen or lower alkoxy and R is lower alkyl. The unsaturated acetals are useful as intermediate to prepare the corresponding saturated acetals which may then be reacted with guanidine to produce the corresponding 2,4-diamino5-benzyl pyrimidines which are useful as antibacterials.
