Abstract
Abstract A lip type seal adapted to provide a seal between a housing and a relatively rotatable shaft including a sealing lip in sealing engagement with the shaft. The lip includes a non-woven mat of randomly disposed interconnected fibers of a synthetic polymer such as polytetrafluoroethylene, polyester, polyamide or the like impregnated with a synthetic elastomer such as oleophobic silicone rubber. Fibers forming the mat are partially exposed at the lip for contact with the shaft.
