Abstract
Abstract A DRIED BASE WHICH FORMS A CARBONATED BEVERAGE WHEN ADDED TO WATER. THE BASE CONSISTS OF TWO POROUS FRIABLE BODIES, ONE CONTAINING A SOLUBLE, THERMOPLASTIC, AMORPHOUS SACCHARIDE AND AN EDIBLE ACID, THE OTHER A SOLUBLE THERMOPLASTIC, AMORPHOUS SACCHARIDE AND AN EDIBLE CARBONATE WHICH WILL REACT WITH THE ACID WHEN PLACED IN WATER TO EVOLVE CARBON DIOXIDE. PREMATURE REACTION BETWEEN ACID AND CARBONATE IS PREVENTED BY THEIR PHYSICAL SEPARATION.
