Abstract

Abstract AT LEAST ONE BOOT-ENGAGNG PORTION, I.E. A HEEL-AND/OR TOE-ENGAGING PORTION, IS MOUNTABLE ON A SKI FOR PIVOTAL MOVEMENT UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF A PREDETERMINED TORSIONAL FORCE ABOUT AN UPRIGHT AXIS FROM A NORMAL OPERATING POSITION IN WHICH IT CONNECTS THE BOOT WITH THE SKI, TO A LATERALLY DISPLACED RELEASE POSITION IN WHICH IT DISCONNECTS THE BOOT FROM THE SKI. MOUNTING MEANS MOUNTS THE BOOTENGAGING PORTION FOR PIVOTAL MOVEMENT SHORT OF THE RELEASE POSITION IN RESPONSE TO TORSIONAL FORCES SMALLER THAN THE PREDETERMINED TORSIONAL FORCE.
