Abstract HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYMERS OF ETHYLENE OXIDE OR COPOLYMERS OF ETHYLENE OXIDE WITH MINOR AMOUNTS OF PROPYLENE OXIDE HAVING WEIGHT AVERAGE MOLECULAR WEIGHT OF A LEAST ABOUT 100,000 BUT NEVERLESS WATER SOLUBLE AT THE CONCENTRATIONS AND UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF USE, INHIBIT CORROSION OF METAL SURFACES IN AQUEOUS SYSTEMS. COMBINATION OF SUCH POLYMERS WITH KNOWN CORROSION INHIBITING MATERIALS AND COMPOSITIONS SYNERGISTICALLY IMPROVES THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE LATTER.
