Abstract

Abstract Apparatus selectively and automatically operable in either a linear or a pulse-width modulation mode. A controlled feedback loop in a basically linear system is automatically closed in response to threshold conditions of particular parameters of a moving inductance type load, the loop providing positive feedback in a range of frequencies determined by the phase shift characteristics of the load and additional phase shift circuits. The positive feedback results in a controlled oscillatory condition producing a pulse-width modulation mode for the system.
