Abstract
Abstract The compounds are 2-hydroxybenzo(b)quinolizines which are useful agents which affect the central nervous system and which can be used as tranquilizing agents to control aggressive antisocial behavior in animals. The compounds may also be used as intermediates in the preparation of pickling agents, mothproofing agents and wood preservatives. Representative of the compounds disclosed are 8,9-dimethoxy-2-hydroxy-2,3,4,6,11,11a-hexahydro1H-benzo(b)quinolizine and 8,9-dimethoxy-2-hydroxy-2-(3''trifluoromethylphenyl)-2,3,4,6,11,11a-hexahydro-1Hbenzo(b)quinolizine.
