Abstract

Abstract A solid state electric cell having a mobile oxidant such as iodine in the cathode, a solid state electrolyte and a suitable anode containing a reductant material such as silver which is capable of reducing the mobile oxidant, wherein at least the anode additionally contains a material which is capable of reacting with the primary reaction product of the mobile oxidant and reductant to form a resulting product in situ that has improved ionic conductivity as compared to the primary reaction product.
