Abstract

Abstract The device provides means for actuating an aerosol spray tank removably mounted on a door, door frame or wall of a bathroom, for example, when the door is shut. The actuating means comprises a rotatable cam member which is urged against the valve of the aerosol spray tank to open the same by a spring controlled plunger. The cam member and plunger are supported on a mounting plate which includes means for supporting the aerosol spray tank and adjusting the position thereof.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim 158 words
A spraying device comprising in combination a mounting plate, means on said mounting plate for removably and adjustably supporting an aerosol container, said container including a depressible valve member at one end thereof, a plunger slidably mounted on said plate and including an inner end and an outer end, spring means normally urging said plunger into inoperative position, a rotatable cam member mounted on said plate beneath said plunger and above the depressible valve member of said aerosol container, a portion of said cam member normally disposed in the path of said plunger, a leaf spring mounted on said plate between said cam member and said depressible valve member whereby upon the exertion of axial force upon the outer end of said plunger causing slidable movement thereof, the inner end of said plunger strikes a portion of said cam member to rotate it into engagement with said leaf spring, forcing said spring downwardly against said depressible valve member.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 158 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 61 words
A spraying device according to claim 1 wherein the means for removably and adjustably supporting said aerosol container includes a jaw member gripping the side wall of said container and an adjusting screw including a head which engages the bottom wall of said container to permit adjustment of the position of said container relative to said leaf spring and cam member.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 51 words
A spraying device according to claim 1 wherein said cam member is mounted on a shaft at one end of an arm, the other end of said arm secured to said mounting plate and a helical spring is connected to said arm and cam to retain said cam in inoperative position.
