Abstract A resistance wire igniter for a pilot light of a gas fuel burning apparatus including an electric current heated filament having molybdenum and portions tapered toward and fixed with a molybdenum disilicide central portion. Terminal posts construction for keeping the filament ends cool so that they will not oxidize.
