Abstract The body of a stud welding tool is made of a plurality of separate parts. The main housing of the tool thereby can be employed for different applications without the necessity of designing and molding a different housing for each application. The handle of the welding tool body is made of several portions which enable an operator to have access to the interior more readily and more easily. The welding tool also has an internal component through which current is supplied to a chuck of the tool, and which causes fasteners to be transferred from a point behind the chuck into the chuck. The component is compact and relatively maintenance free. In particular, the welding tool can be substantially shorter and lighter than those of a like nature heretofore employed.
A component for a stud welding tool, said component comprising wall means forming a cylindrical fluid chamber and having an outwardly extending enlarged portion near the rear of said chamber, said component further comprising a coil core extending rearwardly from said enlarged portion on the side thereof opposite said chamber, said component further comprising flange means at the end of said chamber opposite said enlarged portion, said enlarged portion having terminal means to receive a welding cable at one side thereof, said enlarged portion further having means spaced from said terminal means to receive a flexible fluid line, said fluid line receiving means having a fluid passage connecting said fluid line with a rear portion of said cylindrical chamber to supply fluid to the rear portion of said chamber, and said flange means having fastener receiving means for making a connection with a chuck adaptor.
