Abstract USING MILLED ALPHA-ALUMIA TRIHYDRATE AS A TOOTHPASTE ABRASIVE CAN SOMETIMES GIVE RISE TO CORROSION OF UNLAQUERED ALUMINUM TUBES ACCOMPAINED BY THE PRODUCTION OF HYDROGEN GAS. THIS CAN BE PREVENTED BY STABLISING THE ALUMINA BY THE ACTION THEREON OF ORTHOPHOSPHATE IONS.
