Abstract
Abstract Wood impregnating compositions are provided comprising a polyoxyalkylene glycol having a molecular weight within the range from about 200 to about 5,000, which is sufficiently soluble in water to form at least a 30 percent solution, and at least one thermoplastic resinous or resin forming material compatible with the glycol and capable of retaining the glycol in the wood. A method of improving dimensional stability of natural wood by applying to the wood such a wood-impregnating composition, and wood treated with such a composition, are also provided.
