Abstract
Abstract This invention relates to the strengthening of alkali metal silicate glass articles through an ion exchange reaction employing a bath of molten alkali metal salt as the source of exchanging ions. More specifically, this invention relates to a means for typing up calcium ions present in the bath of molten salt, which deleteriously affect the strengthening capability of the bath, by passing water vapor through the molten salt.
