Abstract COMPOSITIONS AND A METHOD OF IMPROVING FEED EFFICIENCY OF RUMINANT ANIMALS BY INHIBITING METHANOGENESIS IN THE RUMEN UTILIZING ENCAPSULATED OR COATED VOLATILE LIQUID OR SOLID HYDROCARBONS HAVING AT LEAST TWO HALO ATOMS AND FROM ONE TO SIX CARBON ATOMS. PREFERRED COMPOUNDS TO BE USED AS THE ACTIVE INGREDIENT ARE CHLOROFORM, CARBON TETRACHLORIDE, METHYLENE CHLORIDE AND HEXACHLOROETHANE.
