Abstract A NEW CLASS OF SYMPATHOLYTIC PHENETHANOLAMINES WITH N-(ALKYL) ALKANESULFONAMIDO AND HYDROXY AROMATIC SUBSTITUENTS HAS BEEN SYNTHESIZED. THE SUBSTANCES ARE PHARMACOLOGICALLY ACTIVE ADRENERGIC BLOCKING AGENTS. A PREFERRED COMPOUND IS 2''-HYDROXY-5''-(1-HYDROXY-2-(1-PHENOXY-2-PROPYLAMINO)PROPYL)-N -METHYLMETHANISULFONANILIDE WHICH EFFECTIVELY SUPPRESSES BOTH ALPHA AND BETAADRENERGIC STIMULATION.
