Abstract
Abstract Translucent plastics, particularly polyvinyl chloride, cellulose acetate, and polyolefins such as polyethylene are brightened by distributing uniformly therethrough about 0.01 to 0.5 percent by weight of a 2-aryl-5-cyanonaphthoxazole wherein the 2-aryl moiety is naphthyl, styrylphenyl, anisoylaminophenyl, carboxybenzoylaminophenyl, phenylureidophenyl or acylaminophenyl in which the acyl group is the residue of a higher fatty acid.
