Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 60 words
An electrode in accordance with claim 1 wherein: said porous element is generally cylindrical in shape; said metal element surrounds and is in contact with the major portion of the outer wall of said cylinder; and said conduit means extends into and together with said wall of said chamber defines said chamber in one end portion of said porous element.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 100 words
An electrode in accordance with claim 1 wherein: said porous element is generally triangular in shape; said chamber is a first chamber formed in a first end of said porous element; said conduit means comprises a first conduit connected to said first end of said porous element; a second chamber is formed in a second end of said porous element; a second conduit means is connected to said second end of said porous element in communication with said second chamber; and said metal element is in contact with the outer exposed surface of at least one side of said triangle.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 17 words
An electrode in accordance with claim 1 wherein said porous element comprises porous carbon impregnated with nickel.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 43 words
An electrode in accordance with claim 1 wherein said metal element comprises a metal selected from the group consisting of nickel, iron, cobalt, carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloys of nickel with other metals which contain at least 5 weight per cent nickel.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 53 words
An electrode in accordance with claim 1 wherein: said porous carbon element has the general shape of a cylinder; said metal element comprises a metal screen surrounding and in contact with the outer wall of said cylinder; and means are provided for holding said metal element in contact with said porous carbon elemenT.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 53 words
An electrode in accordance with claim 1 wherein said porous carbon element comprises a generally rectangular-shaped plate of porous carbon; said metal element comprises a metal screen in contact with an outer exposed surface of said plate; and means are provided for holding said metal element in contact with said porous carbon element.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 57 words
An electrode in accordance with claim 1 wherein said porous carbon element has the general shape of a triangle; said metal element comprises a metal screen in contact with the outer exposed surface of at least one side of said triangle; and means are provided for holding said metal element in contact with said porous carbon element.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 37 words
An electrode in accordance with claim 1 wherein said porous carbon element has a permeability within the range of from 0.5 to 75 darcys and average pore diameters within the range of from 1 to 150 microns.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 39 words
An electrode in accordance with claim 9 wherein said permeability is within the range of from about 2 to about 30 darcys and said average pore diameter is within the range of from about 20 to about 75 microns.
