Abstract

Abstract A method for producing a rapid and effective bond between two surfaces which comprises applying to a first surface to be bonded a composition which is stable for an extended period in the presence of oxygen and comprises a major proportion of a monomer having anaerobic curing properties and a minor proportion of a first accelerator moiety, separately applying to a second surface to be bonded, or to the first surface immediately before bonding, a second composition, also stable for an extended period in the presence of oxygen and comprising a major proportion of a monomer having anaerobic curing properties and a minor proportion of a second accelerator moiety complementary to the first and bringing the first and second surfaces together to allow the said compositions to combine anaerobically, the accelerator moieties in the compositions being so chosen that they act synergistically when combined.
