Abstract
Abstract A refractory material is premixed with a binder consisting essentially of a mixture of sodium silicate and ammonium pentaborate, to give a refractory composition having a relatively short setting time when mixed with a given amount of water which setting time is predetermined by selecting a weight ratio for the silicate and the pentaborate within a given range.
