Abstract
Abstract A shaving-head assembly which is actuated by one drive shaft, with shear plates that are capable of having their angular positions varied relative to the drive shaft by the use of gimbal rings from which these shear plates are suspended. Spring biased cutters cooperatively engage with the shear plates to cut facial hair.

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim
99 words
In a dry-shaving apparatus including a casing for holding a shaving head assembly, the casing having a main axis, the assembly being at least one shaving head which comprises: a shear plate, a gimbal ring situated between and engaging said holder and said shear plate whereby the shear plate is tiltable to angular positions relative to said holder, and is axially depressible from high to low positions along said holder axis, spring means urging the shear plate toward said high position, the gimbal being resilient such that the shear plate is tiltable in all positions between high and low.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim

In a dry-shaving apparatus including a casing for holding a shaving head assembly, the casing having a main axis, the assembly being at least one shaving head which comprises: a shear plate, a gimbal ring situated between and engaging said holder and said shear plate whereby the shear plate is tiltable to angular positions relative to said holder, and is axially depressible from high to low positions along said holder axis, spring means urging the shear plate toward said high position, the gimbal being resilient such that the shear plate is tiltable in all positions between high and low.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
69 words
Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said gimbal is a ring element having a central longitudinal axis generally coincident with the holder axis and defining two diameters normal to each other and to said longitudinal axis, the shaving head further comprising first and second connection means extending radially along said two diameters respectively, the gimbal engaging said holder and shear plate via said first and second connection means respectively.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
42 words
Apparatus according to claim 2 where first connection means comprises a first pair of projections that extend radially inward from said ring element and the second connection means comprises a second pair of projections that extend radially outward from said ring element.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
71 words
Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said shaving head is a first shaving head, the apparatus further comprising at least a second shaving head similar to the first shaving head and coaxial with and radially inward of said shaving head, the second shaving head including a second shear plate having parts thereof adjacent the first shear plate, a second gimbal situated between and engaging adjacent parts of said two shear plates.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
50 words
Apparatus according to claim 4 wherein each shear plate is generally U-shaped in cross-section with the legs of the U defining a flange wall of said plate, each of said walls having a stop thereon, whereby tilting of said plates is limited when said stops of adjacent plates become engaged.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
20 words
Apparatus according to claim 1, wHerein said axial displacement of the shear plate has a maximum distance of 2 mm.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
19 words
Apparatus according to claim 3 wherein said gimbal ring comprises a strip of material formed into a circular band.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
14 words
Apparatus according to claim 7 wherein said projections are lugs stamped from said band.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
22 words
Apparatus according to claim 3 wherein said holder and shear plate have apertures therein corresponding to and into which said projections extend.
