Abstract A PROCESS IS DISCLOSED FOR PRODUCING ESTERS IN GOOD YIELD AND AT LOW COST FROM INEXPENSIVE REACTANTS. THE PROCESS IS CHARACTERIZED BY THE ABSENCE OF DELIBERATELY ADDED CATALYST MATERIALS. IT HAS BEEN DISCOVERED THAT CERTAIN DILUENTS WILL PERMIT A REACTION BETWEEN CERTAIN ENEXPENSIVE ORGANIC REACTANT MATERIALS WITHOUT REQUIRING THE PRESENCE OF A DELIBERATELY ADDED SPECIFIC CATALYST MATERIAL.
