Abstract
Abstract An electronic web tension measuring and controlling system is provided which is stable, fast-responding, and convenient to operate, and which produces an output in meaningful units, the system displaying the actual operating web tension directly in units of pounds per lineal inch (p.l.i.). The actual p.l.i. signal is compared with a set point tension signal dialed in by the operator in p.l.i. units. Any error signal produced is multiplied by a signal proportional to the face width of the web so that a ''''pounds'''' error signal is produced. Brake operating time is minimized by utilizing an E/P converter located at the brake.
