Abstract

Abstract Photographic elements having a support on which is coated a layer including a light-sensitive halocarbon and a phenol derivative like 1-naphthol, pyrocatechol or 1-methoxy-2-naphthol, yield printout images on exposure to actinic rays. The printout image can be intensified by heating.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 28 words
A photographic element as described in claim 1 wherein each of the alkyl and alkoxy radicals represented by R and R1 has from one to four carbon atoms.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 39 words
A photographic element as described in claim 1 wherein the phenol derivative is selected from the group consisting of: a. 1-naphthol b. 2-naphthol c. 2,3-naphthalenediol d. 2.7-naphthalenediol e. 1,5-naphthalenediol f. 1-methoxy-2-naphthol g. pyrocatechol h. resorcinol i. phloroglucinol j. 4-n-hexylresorcinol
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 69 words
A photographic element for the production of printout images and comprising a support having coated thereon a layer comprising a light-sensitive polyhalocarbon selected from the group consisting of carbon tetrabromide and iodoform and a phenol derivative selected from the group consisting of 4-methoxy-1-naphthol, phloroglucinol, resorcinol, 2,3-naphthalenediol, 2,7-naphthalenediol, 1,5-naphthalenediol, 1-naphthol, 2-naphthol and 4-n-hexylresorcinol, said phenol and said halocarbon being combined in a weight ratio of from 3:1 to 1:5 respectively.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 38 words
A photographic image-forming process for the preparation of printout images on a photographic element as described in claim 1, which process comprises imagewise exposing said element to actinic rays whereupon a printout image is produced in exposed areas.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 20 words
A photographic process as described in claim 5 and additionally including heating said exposed element to intensifying the printout image.
