Abstract
Abstract In a disk file information storage system, the rotary disk is constructed of a low-density core covered with a thin higher density outer skin. The core is preferably a honeycomb structure with cells whose axes are parallel to the axis of the disk. The skin is constructed of flat circular sheets of metal bonded to the ends of the core and an outer ring bonded to the sheets along the outside perimeter of the core. Assuming the core has a hole through its center, the skin includes an inner ring bonded to the sheets along the inside perimeter of the core. Thus, the core is sealed by the skin.
