Abstract Method of building pneumatic tires in which tire carcass material is initially formed into a tubular cylinder after which radially outwardly extending tire bead shoulders are formed inwardly of the ends of the tubular cylinder and into engagement with tire beads supported concentrically outwardly of the displaced material forming the tire bead shoulders, initially supporting the tire bead shoulders in engagement with the tire beads, displacing the outer ends of the tubular cylinder axially inwardly to encase the tire beads while the latter are initially supported in engagement with the tire bead shoulders, thereafter, secondarily supporting the encased tire beads and releasing the initial supporting of the tire beads followed by radially displacing the intermediate portion of the tubular cylinder and moving the encased tire beads while secondarily supported axially toward each other to form the tubular cylinder into substantially torous configuration.
The method of building pneumatic tires comprising the steps of forming tire carcass material in a tubular cylinder, supporting tire beads inwardly of the outer ends of said tubular cylinder in concentric and spaced away relation with respect to the outer surface of the tubular cylinder, radially displacing portions of said tubular cylinder opposite said tire beads for forming tire bead shoulders, initially supporting said tire bead shoulders in engagement with said tire beads, displacing said outer ends of said tubular cylinder axially inwardly to encase the tire beads while the latter are in initial supporting engagement with said tire bead shoulders, secondarily supporting said encased tire beads, applying sidewall components to the tire carcass material after forming of said tire bead shoulders and while the tire bead shoulders are initially supported and the encased tire beads are secondarily supported, releasing the initial support of said tire bead shoulders, and radially displacing the intermediate portion of said tubular cylinder and moving said tire beads while secondarily supported axially toward each other into substantially torus configuration.
