Abstract ESTERS DERIVED FROM (4-HYDROXY-5-ALKYLPHENYL)-ALKANOIC ACIDS, OPTIONALLY SUBSTITUTED IN TEH 2- OR 3-POSITION OF THE PHENYL RING BY A SECOND ALKYL GROUP, AND ALKANE POLYOLS ARE STABILIZERS OF ORGANIC MATERIAL NORMALLY SUBJECT TO OXIDATIVE DETERIORATION. THEY ARE PREPARED BY CONVENTIONAL ESTERIFICATRION TECHNIQUES. TYPICAL EMBODIMENTS ARE ETHYLENE GLYCOL BIS(3 - (3,5-DI-BUTYL-4-HYDROXPHENYL) PROPIONATE AND PENTAERY THRITOL TETRAKIS(3-(3,5-DI-BUTYL4-HYDROXPHENYL)PROPIONATE).
