Abstract

Abstract An electrical connector comprising a generally cylindrical electrally conductive rod having an axial bore therein forming a tube open at at least one end and having walls at least a portion of which are shaped in the form of a bellows. The bore is adapted to receive at least one electrical conductor and in its preferred form the hollow portion of the rod is filled with an electrically conductive liquid which is relatively incompressible as, for example, mercury.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 68 words
An electrical connector comprising a generally cylindrical electrically conductive rod having an axial bore therein forming a tube open at at least one end and having walls, at least a portion of said walls constituting a bellows, said bore being adapted to receive at least one electrical conductor, said bore being filled with an electrically conductive substantially incompressible liquid, and means for retaining said liquid in said bore.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 68 words
An electrical connector comprising a generally cylindrical electrically conductive rod having an axial bore therein forming a tube open at at least one end and having walls, at least a portion of said walls constituting a bellows, said bore being adapted to receive at least one electrical conductor, said bore being filled with an electrically conductive substantially incompressible liquid, and means for retaining said liquid in said bore.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 21 words
A connector according to claim 1 wherein said means comprises at least one plug sealing the liquid in the closed bore.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 11 words
A connector according to claim 1 wherein said liquid is mercury.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 28 words
A connector according to claim 2 wherein said plug is at at least one end of said bellows, retaining means on said rod keeping said plug in position.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 50 words
A connector according to claim 2 wherein said plug comprises an electrically conductive member having an exterior generally complementary to said bore and in contact therewith, said member having an axial hollow open at an outer end and closed at an inner end, said hollow adapted to receive said conductor.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 15 words
A connector according to claim 5 wherein said member is in contact with said liquid.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 92 words
A connector according to claim 1 wherein said bore extends along only part of the axis of said rod, a sealing plug in said bore located at an end of said bellows nearer the open end of said bore, retaining means on said rod keeping said plug in position, said plug comprising an electrically conductive member having an exterior generally complementary to said bore and in contact therewith, said member having an axial hollow open at an outer end and closed at an inner end, said hollow adapted to receive said conductor.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 59 words
An electrical connector comprising a generally cylindrical electrically conductive rod having an axial bore therein forming a tube open at at least one end and having walls, at least a portion of said walls constituting a bellows, at least one electrical conductor in said bore, said rod being bent to form legs, and bellows in each of said legs.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 59 words
An electrical connector comprising a generally cylindrical electrically conductive rod having an axial bore therein forming a tube open at at least one end and having walls, at least a portion of said walls constituting a bellows, at least one electrical conductor in said bore, said rod being bent to form legs, and bellows in each of said legs.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 79 words
An electrical connector comprising a generally cylindrical electrically conductive rod having an axial bore therein forming a tube open at at least one end and having walls, at least a portion of said walls constituting a bellows, said bore being adapted to receive at least one electrical conductor, said bore being filled when an electrically conductive substantially incompressible liquid, means for retaining said liquid in said bore, said bore extending along only part of the axis of said rod.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 79 words
An electrical connector comprising a generally cylindrical electrically conductive rod having an axial bore therein forming a tube open at at least one end and having walls, at least a portion of said walls constituting a bellows, said bore being adapted to receive at least one electrical conductor, said bore being filled when an electrically conductive substantially incompressible liquid, means for retaining said liquid in said bore, said bore extending along only part of the axis of said rod.
