Abstract SUBSTITUTED 2,3 -DIHYDRO-1H-DIBENZO(2,3:6,7)THIEPINO (4,5-C)PYRROLS, THE CORRESPONDING OXEPINO DERIVATIES AND THE PHARMACEUTICALLY ACCEPTABLE ACID ADDITION SALTS THEREOF HAVE A CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM DEPRESSANT EFFECT; THE COMPOUNDS CAN BE PREPARED BY REACTING 10,11-BIS-BROMOMETHYLDIBENZO(B,F)THIEPINS OR THE CORREAPONDING OXEPINS WITH PRIMARY AMINES; THE PYRROLS AND THE PHARMACEUTICALLY ACCEPTABLE ACID ADDITON SALTS THEREOF ARE THE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS OF PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS; AN ILLUSTRATIVE EMBODIMENT IS 2-ETHYL- 2,3 - DIHYDRO-1HDIBENZO(2,3:6,7)THIEPINO(4,5-C)PYRROL.
