Abstract A LIQUID PHASE OXIDATION REACTION WHEREBY A CYCLIC AMINE HAVING AN UNSUBSTITUTED METHYLENE MOIETY ADJACENT TO THE RING NITROGEN IS CONVERTED TO THE CORRESPONDING LACTAM BY REACTING THE AMINE WITH A HYDROPEROXIDE IN THE PRESENCE OF A METAL ION CATALYST.
