Abstract A SUPERIOR HYDROPHOBIC SILICA EMULSION IN OIL, USEFUL PRINCIPALLY AS AN ANTIFOAMING AGENT, IS PREPARED BY STARTING WITH A SILICA HYDROSOL EMULSIFIED OIL. WATER IS STRIPPED FROM THE EMULSION AND THE EMULSION SYSTEM IS THEN REACTED WITH A POLYSILOXANE WHICH RENDERS THE OIL-DISPESED SILICA PARTICLES (SOL DIMENSION) HYDROPHOBIC.
