Abstract New quaternary nitrogen compounds and dyeing processes using these quaternary nitrogen compounds are provided. The quaternary nitrogen compounds may be represented by the formula WHEREIN B represents an acidifying substituent, RI, RII and RIII each represents an alkyl radical, or one of them represents an NH2-group while the remaining radicals are linked together forming five- and six-membered cycloalkyl residues; n is a small whole number and anion represents the negative radical of a monobasic or polybasic acid. The dyeing processes provided are for the coloring of fibrous materials with reactive compounds in which the quaternary nitrogen compound is employed as dyeing assistant to promote the reaction between the reactive compound and the fibrous material.
In a process for coloring fibrous cellulosic materials with a reactive dyestuff, the improvement which comprises employing between about 0.1 to about 10 percent by weight of dyestuff of the quaternary nitrogen compound of the formula to promote the reaction between the fibrous material and the reactive dyestuff.
