Abstract
Abstract The copying machine includes both line and frame exposing means for a photoelectrostatic member and controls for conditioning the machine to operate in one of these two modes. A movable charging assembly is positioned in different locations in the two modes by the control, and other factors such as charging voltage, speed of movement of the member, and the continuous or intermittent nature of the charging operation are changed by the control in accordance with the copying mode for which the machine is conditioned.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 3
Claim 1
Independent Claim
126 words
A graphic recording machine operable in a facsimile mode for making a record on a photoelectrostatic member, comprising: an exposure station where the member is imaged to provide said record, means immediately adjacent said station for charging the member, said charging means including a corona discharge device spaced from said member, means for moving the member past the charging means and into said station at a predetermined, substantially slow rate on the order of about 1 inch per minute, and control means for repeatedly turning the charging means on and off at a rate in accordance with which said charging means is on only for substantially minute periods per unit time, as the member moves past said charging means so that the member is uniformly charged.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
23 words
The machine defined by claim 1 wherein said member is exposed to an intensity modulated scanning light beam upon arrival at said station.
