Claim 1
Independent Claim
220 words
A cassette-type magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus, comprising: a body having a baseplate; tape reel shafts mounted on said baseplate; means for selectively driving at least one of said tape reel shafts at a time; means for shifting said apparatus from one operative state to another, including a cam plate rotatably mounted on said baseplate; a movable baseplate having magnetic head means and a pinch roller mounted thereon, said movable baseplate being mounted for movement toward and away from magnetic tape contained in a tape cartridge mounted on said tape reel shafts; a projection disposed on said cam plate; a lever pivotally mounted on said baseplate; means resiliently connecting a first end portion of said lever to said movable baseplate; means normally biasing said first end portion in a first direction, wherein said magnetic head means and pinch roller are held out of operative contact with said magnetic tape; said lever having a second end portion disposed in contact with said cam plate projection wherein, in a first position of said cam plate, said lever is in said normally biased position, and in a second position of said cam plate, said lever is held in a position against said normally biased position such that said magnetic head means and pinch roller are disposed in operative contact with said magnetic tape.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
80 words
The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said movable baseplate has a projection extending therefrom substantially normally to the plane of the surface of said movable baseplate, said first end portion of said lever has a projection extending therefrom substantially normally to the plane of the surface of said lever and wherein said means resiliently connecting said first end portion to said movable baseplate includes spring means connected between said substantially normally extending projections of said movable baseplate and said lever.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
68 words
The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said second end portion of said lever comprises an inverted V-shaped portion wherein in said first position of said cam plate said cam plate projection is disposed in contact with one side of said inverted V and in said second position of said cam plate said cam plate projection is disposed in contact with the pointed portion of said inverted V.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
160 words
The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising: a second projection disposed on said cam plate; a second lever pivotally disposed on said baseplate in operative contact with said second projection; A plurality of roller means pivotally mounted on said baseplate; a capstan; means connecting first and second of said roller means and said capstan; and means operatively connecting said first and second roller means with said second lever; wherein, in a first position of said second lever, said connecting means maintains said roller means out of connection with said reel shafts, in a second position of said second lever, said roller means are operatively connected to one of said reel shafts for imparting movement to said magnetic tape in a first direction, and in a third position of said second lever, said roller means are operatively connected to the other of said reel shafts for imparting movement to said tape in a second direction substantially opposite to said first direction.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
91 words
The apparatus of claim 4, wherein said means operatively connecting said roller means with said second lever comprises third lever slidably movable with respect to said baseplate; said roller means are normally biased in respective given directions; and in a first position of said third lever, said first roller means is maintained in a first position such that said means connecting said roller means and said capstan is disposed in contact with said one reel shaft and said second roller means is maintained in a position against its normally biased direction.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
90 words
The apparatus of claim 5, wherein: said means connecting said roller means and said capstan comprises a belt; in said first position of said third lever, said belt is disposed in contact with said capstan, said first roller means and said one reel shaft; and third roller means is disposed in its normally biased direction such that said third roller means contacts said belt on the side thereof opposite to the side contacting said one reel shaft to form a pressure contact between said belt and said one reel shaft.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
48 words
The apparatus of claim 5, wherein in a second position of said third lever, said third lever maintains said first roller means out of connection with said reel shafts and said second roller means is disposed in a second position in operative contact with said other reel shaft.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
47 words
The apparatus of claim 7, wherein said first position of said third lever corresponds to said second position of said second lever and said second position of said third lever corresponds to said third position of said second lever and said first position of said cam plate.
