Abstract

Abstract Ferrous and aluminum metal corrosion by an aqueous solution of ammoniated superphosphoric acid is inhibited by incorporating about 0.5-5 percent by weight of nitrate ion based on the total phosphorous content measured as P2O5. The aqueous solution, which is useful as a ruminant feed supplement, has a pH of 5-8, a nitrogen content of 9-12 percent by weight, and a total phosphorous content measured as P2O5 of 28-39 percent by weight.
